There’s A Payday Loan for Everything!

I had a good month in July, which simply means that I came out on the money I had made. However, I had an uneasy feeling that all was not well and on Friday morning confirmation arrived. One of my children called and said, “It’s Mom’s birthday on Saturday! How are we celebrating?”

I made a quick call around to children and grandchildren to find out if they were available for dinner on Saturday evening and then called a restaurant. “Sorry, we’re booked out!” apologized the first. The second said they do not take reservations and the third couldn’t understand me. I finally booked at what was advertised as a new family restaurant. Another couple of phone calls and the party was in place.

The restaurant
The restaurant was pleasant and the waiter friendly. We were a party of twelve, six adults and six children, excited, noisy and difficult to keep in line. The shock came when we opened out menus and saw the prices of the dishes. I had already decided that I would pay for everyone and would not take money from my children for my wife’s birthday party. I gulped when I realized what the bill was likely to be.

The food
The food was simply excellent. Most of the adults passed on the very expensive steaks and other dishes and settled for the expensive hamburgers as did some of the children. The men ordered beers and the others various sodas. We ate with gusto and enjoyed every crumb. After the main course the waiter arrived at the table carrying a small Crème brûlée with a single candle in the center. We all sang happy birthday. My wife had to wipe her eyes more than once and all in all it was great celebration and a great evening. I paid the large bill with my credit card and we all went home happy.

This morning is Sunday and I was at my computer first thing.
