You must have a full wallet at a time like this
End of the year means sales. They counting stock like crazy on one side of the store and consigning unsold items to the sales tables at the other side. This is a great time for bargains but you need cash on you. It’s ‘look, decide and pay’ time. I can fix this easily with a Cash Advance Loan and the place to get this is from Advanceloan.net.
The application
Piece of cake. I found it at AdvanceLoan.net spent all of ten minutes filling it out and the zapping it across cyberspace to the company. Half an hour later I got zapped back with the message ‘the money is in your account’. I was out the door and on the way to the mall in seconds. There is a long table outside the Castro jeans store and it is piled high, I mean really high with jeans of all shapes, colors (mainly blue) and sizes. I started digging. I ended up with 3 pairs: one for work, one for the weekends and one for going out. Total amount spent: $29.80. That’s my lower half fixed for 2011.
The global warming factor
The top half wasn’t so simple. I need to know what the weather is going to be like in 2011. With global warming acting up we could have a freezing summer and a sweltering winter which means that you have to figure upper body clothing differently. I looked around and picked my way through a few tables of shirts, tees, and sweatshirts. I took 6 tees at $3 each and 2 sweatshirts at $9 each, enough to keep me going for awhile.
Shoes
You can find shoes for next to nothing on the sales, but it takes some searching. Pity Google, the Master Searchers, don’t get involved at the local sales level! I found sneakers for work at $5, weekend sneakers at $8 and going out sneakers at $9.99. I now look great from top to toe. I still need a couple of jackets to complete my wardrobe.
Jackets
Jackets are a whole different ball game and of course I spent a good deal of time. After all, I wanted to squeeze the most out of my Cash Advance Loan. After much searching, deciding, un-deciding, taking and putting back and trying on I went home with two jackets. One is for in-between summer and winter, whatever they will be, and the other is for the snow whenever or if-ever that will be. All in all I finally spent about $100 on the two jackets.
I have change!
I don’t think I have to tell Advanceloan.net that I didn’t spend the full amount of the Cash Advance Loan on my 2011 wardrobe and I don’t suppose they would be interested to learn that I plan on spending the change on a couple of apps for my new iPad.

Now Skype is on the money warpath
I think it must have been the advertising and general publicity that finally got to me. I just had to have one. It was the same feeling I’ve had over other items that I never needed and bought. It was like that new Peugeot ad on the TV. A guy stops at the Peugeot showroom to admire a new model. He walks a little closer and a salesman walks out. “Do you need a new car, Sir?” No. “Do you have large family, Sir?” No. “Is there any special reason you are looking at this car, Sir?” Yes, I want it! My wife was not impressed!
The iPad
The thing with the iPad is the enormous potential it has. Not only does it do a whole slew of computer things that we now expect from every electronic gadget that can connect to the internet, the iPad has the ability to convert itself to many other uses, mostly specialized fields. I even went so far as to offer to purchase a cooking recipe add-on and let my wife take it into the kitchen.
No limit
There is no limit to the add-ons, in fact I would say the limit is that of the human brain. I am sure that there are already medical add-ons that will aid a surgeon in an operating theater, or chemical add-ons that will assist in lab work. Apple , of course, understood the that the toy they were developing had thousands of other applications so they developed “Apps”, the add-ons which they are now marketing. Many are free but most one has to pay for, from nominal small amounts to larger sums if you purchase a serious program to add to your iPad.
Using it
I am not a computer freak and at the slightest sign of a glitch in my desktop computer which I use for writing, I call Bernie, my PC Doctor who comes immediately and puts things right. In the shop where I bought the iPad I asked the young salesman if there was a manual in the box and he simply smiled. In fact there were 3 pieces of small paper and nothing else. It took me a few hours to figure out how to switch it on and after 2 days I can zoom around like my grandson does on his iPod. I am still a trifle slower…
Skype
Today’s announcement says: FaceTime software, which comes with iPhones, works only with Wi-Fi. The app, which is being released Thursday through Apple Inc.’s iTunes Store, will let iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS users make free video calls to other Skype users who are using the app or have access to the feature using Skype on their computer or other video phone. Those with the latest iPod Touch will be able to make video calls over Wi-Fi. The app allows the iPad and previous-generation iPod Touch to receive video calls, too, Skype said.
Me
I will install it today. Bet you my wife will be happy….

You just gotta have one of these at home!
More Americans are making space for sauna rooms, clearing out basements, converting closets and even partitioning off backyard sheds. Sauna sales this year are up as much as 40% over last year. One company says sales of its handmade barrel-like outdoor saunas have been climbing about 6% a year for the past four years. Another sauna dealer says sales were up 50% this year.
Nothing new
Saunas are nothing new. They have been at the core of Finnish culture for thousands of years, a traditional toasty respite in a cold and snowy climate, according to the nonprofit North American Sauna Society, whose members are fans and merchants.
It costs
Leslie Kahn, an architect in Bethesda, Md. Says, “I’m interested in seeing whether our American friends will sauna in the nude.” She and her husband are remodeling a basement bathroom in order to add a sauna. Her husband believes sauna sessions he experienced overseas helped with aches and pains. The couple also enjoys the social aspect and hopes eventually to entertain guests with sauna parties. The cost of the sauna, including installation, will be around $5,000, on top of about $12,000 for remodeling the bathroom, she says.
Popular
Besides the Euro-cool factor, saunas’ growing popularity also is due to their practical appeal. They are less fussy to install than other spa-type amenities. The source of their intense, radiant heat is simply stones placed inside and on top of an electric heater. Some outdoor units are set up with a traditional wood-burning stove, requiring no electricity for heating. Whether indoors or out, saunas typically are built using a light-colored wood able to withstand wide fluctuations in heat and humidity. Western red cedar is popular and releases a pleasant scent.
Dry or humid
Although saunas can be enjoyed dry, many people like to add humidity by sprinkling water on the rocks. This is the only connection to water in a sauna. No connections to water pipes are necessary.
The Sauna Party Kit
The sauna: An 8-by-10 foot sauna can comfortably seat seven to 10 people. Towels: For guests to wear, or, if going au naturel, everyone can place them over the bench seats. Water: It’s important to stay hydrated between ‘innings,’ or re-entry visits. Snacks: Serve post-sauna. It’s not a good idea to sauna on a full stomach. Finnish fare includes smoked salmon and herring. Also beverages like beer, vodka or fruit juices. Cold dip: For the full Scandinavian experience, a dip in an outdoor swimming pool or a lake is refreshing after a hot sweat.
How much will it cost me?
A sauna can be relatively affordable. Converting a closet into a two-person sauna might cost as little as $3,000, not including installation, while a “designer deluxe” model with digital controls and high-end lighting could climb to $10,000, says Keith Raisanen, president of Saunatec Inc., a Cokato, Minn., manufacturer and distributor. Most saunas, he says, fall in the $4,500-to-$8,000 range and seat from four to seven.
